The user must choose the operating system for the current session when they start the workstation. Mac OS X operating system now include Boot Camp, a feature to allow Windows and Mac operating systems to be installed on the same Mac workstation.
Macs users can then boot the machine in Windows mode and use Vernon CMS directly on the Mac. The principals are the same as with Microsoft Remote Desktop Connection. If you do not want to allow administrator access to the server you will need to purchase Windows Client Access Licences (CALs) to licence general users access from the Macs to the Servers. Windows Workstations include access for one remote connection on any login. The Macs need Microsoft’s Remote Desktop Client for Macs installed. Vernon CMS will be running on a Windows PC (either the main server or a workstation dedicated to remote connections). Windows Servers include licences for two administrator access logins to the server through Remote Desktop. There are a number of approaches for running the system on a Mac workstation: Vernon CMS is built as a Windows application.
